PATHALAIYA: District Forest Office, Bara on Thursday demolished illegal structures in the Halkhoria forest area after Ram Bahadur Bamjan, popularly known as the Buddha Boy, left the forest and headed to Sindhuli in the night of June 5.

A joint team including Nepal Police and armed police personnel and forest security personnel reached Halkhoriya forest area today and demolished about one dozen houses and huts. Earlier, the forest office had inspected the site soon after Bamjan left.

Police used excavator and other modern equipment to demolish a three-storey concrete house and other structures, and intercepted timber and other items from the site. “We have started demolishing the structures illegally built by Bamjan and his henchmen in order to discourage any encroachment of forest land in future,” said district forest office chief Ramanandan Sah. The forest office has also removed the barbed-wire fence erected by the Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh, a body formed to provide protection to Bamjan, around the mediation site.

The forest office has also taken control of the Ratanpuri forest area, which is said to be Bamjan’s first meditation site and is learnt to be preparing to hand over the forest to a community forest.

Bamjan had stayed in the Ratanpuri forest for about nine months before vanishing from there suddenly to be found later in the Bagajhor jungle of Bara, where he made the Halkhoriya forest his second meditation site.

Bamjan courted controversy for the first time when he assaulted a local youth with a sword. After that, he was also drawn into many other controversies including hostage-taking and thrashing.

Nepal ignores Bomjon because that country comes up with a new ‘unique’ Guru every year! So, its the same old same old to them. These ‘divine’ individuals come, go and the world remains just the same. because any idiot who comes talking about world peace is a fool. I bet he even thinks he’s going to stop the world from ending in December 2012. delusional people always thinking the world is going to end in their times. Jason Thomas, USA

I think Jason Thomas is blaming the wrong person. I don’t think building so called “unnatural” houses in the middle of the forest is ignorance. Isn’t that what man kind has been doing through out the ages? I bet wherever Jason is living was a forest some long time ago until human beings encroached it. And, Bomjon hasn’t been creating or destroying “unnatural” houses. All he wants to do is sit in quiet and meditate, and may be if he attends the so called elusive “Nirvana”, he might share his knowledge with us. I just think that boy is unique, and the problem is people around him are trying to benefit from his uniqueness. Roshan Lamichhane, Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Nepal is foolish because they are getting such opportunity to to see the messenger of god.N if would have their I won’t b missing such a wonderful opportunity. dawatamang, India(siliguri)

There is nothing ‘sacred’ about someone illegally taking residence in a forest that does not belong to them. To build ‘unnatural’ houses and statues and pedestals in the midst of a forest is ignorance. Ram lives in his own delusional blindness. Above all, Truth has no relationship with a lost boy who is misguiding the blind. Jason Thomas, USA

Nepali people and Goverment unable to recognize the truth(Mahasam Bodhi Guru Dharma Sangha) because they do not want to face with the truth. that is why, every unholesom activities were publiced againest the true dharma. this has been bigest maistak of them. One day they must regreat their unholesom activities. May they able be see truth soon. Panit Maharjan, Patan

“Defies reason”…NOT defines reason…typo …please change if you print it please Mark, Pondicherry, India

Joan, you must understand while Chinese dignitary’s keep influencing the pathetic undereducated leaders and governance on show in Nepal, sadly more destruction of national treasures will continue unabated. Communist Maoists don’t care for forests, nor religion, nor human sentiment; their ideology defines reason! Mark, Pondicherry, India

Joan, the sacredness of Halkhoriya was not due to the concrete houses and huts. Real Dharma cannot be demolished by excavators. The biggest demolition of sacredness was done in the minds and hearts of human followers of the Ascetic of the forest. Now simply the fruit of their actions came ripe to be consumed. Zsuzsanna Takacs Marichi, Slovakia

It is extremely painful to read about the destruction of magical Halkhoriya Forest and along with it, all the sacred life in the Jungle. It is equally difficult to understand why the government instead of expanding the zoning of the Dharmic Forest, would choose to reduce and eradicate what was on the way to becoming for the world, Nepal’s National Treasure…. PATHLAIYA: Volunteers attending to Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who is said to be meditating in the Halkhoriya jungle area of Bara since 2005, today beat up five journalists.

Bibhu Adhikari of News 24 TV, Resham Tiwari of NTV, Prakash Lamsal of Image Channel, Binod Pyakurel of TTV and Basant Khatiwada of the Mofasal Dot Com Weekly fell victim to the wrath of the aides of Bamjan, who is also nicknamed Buddha Boy.

Following the attack, the journalists rushed to an Armed Police Force camp in Piluwa. “We were filming Bamjan’s sermon but suddenly his aides attacked us and seized our cameras,” said Adhikari.

Police had reached Halkhoriya after the incident, but they too were barred from entering the site where Bamjan was giving his sermon. Police, however, managed to get journalists’ cameras back.

The fact that I am publishing the deleted articles does not mean that they ALWAYS write the truth, and that they would be always neutral. After some influencing, the journalists themselves changed their own opinions about Bomjon and his victims. After all, if they never give in to influencing, the articles would have never disappeared in the first place! Just three month after this article The Himalayan Times gave in and humbly stopped to publish about Ram Bomjon ever… The “moral transformation” of its journalists can be already felt from the last articles about Bomjon, before the total boycott of this topic.

The below interview with the rapist and torturer of Marici (at Bomjon’s order, though), with Darshan Limbu, is a direct public libel of Bomjon’s European victim, Zsuzsanna. It is interesting that Bomjon had rewarded Limbu for his “torturing services” of the two captive women, as well as his family members, by elevating him to his spokesperson. Bomjon also ordained Limbu a Buddhist monk after he raped and tortured the two women! In later years (2014, 2016) Bomjon repeatedly excommunicates Limbu, just to take him back again and again. His latest kick-out with public condemnation was in the beginning of 2015… Limbu is hiding in the UK.

SINDHULIMADHI: Twenty four days after Ram Bahadur Bamjan nicknamed as the Buddha Boy left Bara’s Ratanpur-based Halkhoriya forest along with his followers, he has been found living at the Hwaredanda of Janakalyan Community Forest of Kamalamai Municipality in Sindhuli.

Darsan Limbu, Bamjan’s disciple, said the Buddha Boy wanted to bring recognition to Nepal through Bodhi religion in the world. “Our guru is writing the Bodhi Religion he earned during his penance,” he said. However, when journalists approached they were not welcomed at Bamjan’s place today.

According to Limbu, Bamjan is scheduled to speak in a public prabachan programme in two months’ time and at that time he would answer to all the questions.

Limbu went to say that Bamjan sat for penance from May 16, 2005 to May 16, 2011 without food. He complained that forest officials, contractors and timber smugglers had spread rumours about Bamjan in Bara. He dismissed the claims that the government had issued any arrest warrant to Bamjan.

In the past, Bamjan was drawn into many controversies for keeping two women captive, abducting his own family members and thrashing up neighbours among others.

Limbu urged journalists to take stock of the Bara jungle, where Bamjan used to live and bring out the reality. He said Bamjan’s family had spread rumours against him after they failed to have the monopoly over the funds collected in Bamjan’s name.

Bamjan has a white mare, one dog and one he-goat. “We do not know where the horse came from. But a foreigner gifted a he-goat to him,” Limbu said.

He said Bamjan is writing Bodhi religion in sambhota script and that would be translated into 17 languages including Nepali and English later.

When asked about holding a Slovak Marichi into captivity, Limbu said that she was a mentally disturbed woman. According to him, Marichi was kept in a room after she expressed her interest to sit for penance. “But, she attacked Bamjan later,” he added.

Chairman Chhatra Ghising of Bodhi Shrawan Sangh, responsible for Bamjan’s protection, urged the mediapersons not to give any negative press coverage.

PATHLAIYA: Police are yet to take action against Ram Bahadur Bamjan’s aides who allegedly held two women captive for ‘distracting’ the Buddha Boy during his meditation.

Members of Bodhi Shrawan Sangh recently freed the two women –– one Nepali and the other Slovak national –– after allegedly keeping them in captivity for three months. Although the Slovak woman, identified as ‘Marichi’, told police that she was chained in captivity, police said they lack enough evidence to press charges against the Sangh.

Bodhi Shrawan released Marichi and the Nepali women on Sunday and Tuesday respectively. Following their release, police handed over Marichi to the Immigration Department.

“We have not initiated any action as the women did not formally file a case against Bamjan’s aides,” said Inspector KP Sharma of Area Police Office.

Sharma said police are conducting an investigation into the case. Bara Assistant Chief District Officer Chandra Bahadur Karki said probe into the incident was underway. Karki vowed to punish anyone found guilty of unlawfully detaining the two women.

Marichi –– whose passport bears the name Zsuzsana Takacs –– came to Nepal to see Ram Bahadur Bamjan.

She has been kept in the custody of Immigration Department in Kathmandu as her visa expired on June 3 last year.

PATHLAIYA: A Slovak woman, who was being held captive by followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, nicknamed Buddha Boy, has been freed.

The 35-year-old woman, identified only as Marichi, was freed last night at around nine after mediapersons, police and locals raised questions about her abrupt disappearance about three months ago. Whereabouts of another woman from Sindhupalchowk, identified as Mata (nun), who is also being held captive by Bamjan’s followers, is still unknown.

The two women were taken hostage by the followers of Bamjan, who have formed Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh to what they say protect ‘Buddha Boy’, on charges of distracting the man in meditation in the Halkhoriya jungle.

Inspector KP Sharma of Area Police Office, Simara, who met Marichi at Lama Hotel this morning, told mediapersons that the Slovak woman looked tense. “She said she was kept in a tank in a ditch in Halkhoriya,” said Sharma.

Krishna Lama, who owns Lama Hotel, said a man identifying himself as Darshan Limbu from Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh had left her in the hotel. “He appeared out of the blue on a motorbike last night, dropped her and left,” said Lama. Marichi came to Nepal two years ago to pay visit to Bamjan, who has been meditating since 2005, but had gone missing since December 28.

A scared Marichi with a broken arm refused to talk to reporters and urged them not to photograph her. “I won’t say a thing; Sangh and Bamjan have forced me into the promise that I won’t open my mouth,” said Marichi who seems to have received injuries on her head as well.

She was too moved to speak when people close to her met her this morning. “She wept herself into a state of exhaustion as she said she was tortured,” said a local from Simara. “She said she felt like she was at death’s door.”

Marichi could not tell about the other missing woman. “They kept me in ignorance about the nun. She was kept captive somewhere else, not with me,” a local quoted her.

Bara SP Dan Singh Bohara said he had also interrogated Marichi and that investigation was under way.

Police later handed over Marichi to Birgunj-based Immigration Office as her one-year visa for Nepal has expired.

Though her visa had expired, the Slovak woman was meditating in the Halkhoriya jungle and during one of those days she was taken hostage by Bamjan’s followers accusing her ‘of being a witch’.

In custody for overstaying visa

KATHMANDU: A Slovak woman, who was freed by the followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan after keeping her hostage for about three months on Sunday night, was brought to Kathmandu on Monday. According to an official at the Department of Immigration, Marichi has been taken into custody as she has overstayed her visa. DoI officials did not allow media to talk to Marichi. However, according to Chegu Lama , a resident of Simara, who is assisting Marichi , she is in a state of distress and does not speak to anyone. Interestingly, Lama said she does not speak anything against Bamjan. In Simara, Marichi had said she wanted to return to Slovakia as soon as possible. She had also requested people close to her to help manage Rs 50,000 for her.

PATHLAIYA: Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh, formed to protect “Buddha Boy” Ram Bahadur Bamjan, has kept two women captive, one of them a foreigner, since three months.

Marichi (35) from Slovakia and another woman of Sindhupalchowk, Mata, have been confined by the Sangh, which alleges they tried to distract Bamjan’s meditation.

Inspector at Simara Area police Office, KP Sharma said a complaint had been filed about the women’s captivity in Halkhoriya forest, where Bamjan is meditating. Sharma said police interrogated some members of the Sangh in this regard. “They have confessed the women are being held captive for trying to distract Bamjan,” he said adding, “They said they will release them after he completes his religious sermon.” Bamjan’s sermon started last Wednesday.

Marichi had come to Nepal last year to meet Bamjan and has been missing since December 28. After her arrival, Marichi stayed at the local Lama Hotel and had for some time been residing in the Simara-based monastery. She used to meditate in Halkhoriya the whole day and return to the monastery in the evenings.

Krishna Maya Lama, caretaker of the monastery, said, “She has not returned since three months,” adding, “I have heard she is in Halkhoriya.” She said some days after her disappearance, two persons of the Sangh came to the monastery and took her laptop, clothes and other belongings. “Marichi is a kidney patient. She was on medication,” Krishna Maya said, adding “We had taken the medicine, which she had left in the monastery and handed them to persons of the Sangh. We were not allowed to meet her.”

Marichi was seen in Pathlaiya-Nijgadh’s Pasaha on the evening of December 28, the very day of her disappearance. Eyewitnesses at Pasaha said she was sipping tea but was forcefully taken by two persons of the Sangh on a motorcycle towards Halkhoriya. An eyewitness said, “Marichi appeared afraid and one of her hands was fractured.”

Owner of Lama Hotel and persons who knew her have been searching for her. Dawa Lama who claimed Marichi had come to Nepal through his contact, was also unaware of her condition. He said when he asked about Marichi’s condition in Halkhoriya, no one responded. Owner of Lama Hotel, Krishna Lama said, “Marichi stayed in my hotel many times but later stayed in the monastery when she ran short of money.”

Locals of Ratanpur say the Sangh has also kept Mata captive. The Sangh has accused them of practising witchcraft to disrupt Bamjan’s meditation. I Mata was staying in Halkhoriya as a volunteer. A source said Mata and Marichi were kept in a room in Halkhoriya as ordered by Bamjan.
