PATHALAIYA/ KATHMANDU: Police on Monday interrogated Ram Bahadur Bomjan, famously known as Buddha Boy, in connection with the thrashing of local villagers by him for trying to disrupt his penance on Thursday.

A squad of police, led by inspectors Rudrakanta Jha and Bhesh Raj Rijal from Bara District Police Office visited Bamjan in Halkhoriya forest, Bara, following complaints registered against him by a group of 17 vilagers.

Talking to the police, Bomjan admitted to having thrashed the villagers. “Yes, I took a minor action against them because they tried to disturb me while I was meditating,” he said.

Refuting the victims’ claimthat they mistakenly stepped into Bomjan’s meditating site while searching wild vegetables, Bomjan said, “They came to this area just to disrupt my meditation.”

Bomjan also admitted that he had taken the villagers into his control for 24 hours. “I had to do so personally because I did not have anyone around to punish them,” he said.

Though Bamjan claimed he only used hands while thrashing, the villagers have said he had thrashed them with a handle of an axe continuously for three hours.

Also Bomjan said he would not come to the court for trial. “Do you think a meditating sage will go to the court to hear a case?” he exclaimed.

“I took action against them as per the divine law,” he added.

Bamjan also refuted the allegation that he punished the locals for animal sacrifice, during Gadhimai festival. “The Gadhimai issue has nothing to do with this incident,” he said.

Bamjan, who is seen with reverence for his spiritual quest, has been lobbying against the mass animal sacrifice, touted as the world’s biggest.

He had given his word to stop the animal sacrifice ritual that last took place in November 2009, but finally did not show up.

Meanwhile, Bed Bahadur Thing, chairman of Tapoban Forest Conservation Committee, said that they beat up the locals for their attitude towards Bamjan.

Manoj Neupane, Deputy Superintendent of Police in the district, asserted no one is supposed to be above the law of the land.

The police would investigate the case and take action if required, Neupane added.

Bamjan, revered by many as a reincarnation of Lord Buddha, came to a wider public attention in 2005 when he was first spotted in jungle.

It is claimed he could meditate motionless for months without taking food and water.

He, aged 18, embarked on six years of penance in jungle on May the same year.

This so called “buddha boy” had always been a farce, I don’t know why they call him buddha boy, Just because He Meditates? Buddha was a man, who gained knowledge and enlightenment and has shown us the way. There was only one and will only be one Buddha. PATHLAIYA: Tension ran high, when followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, also known to be the reincarnation of Lord Buddha, clashed with riot police in Bara, Pathlaiya-Nijgadh road section today.

Bamjan’s supporters had staged a sit-in and halted vehicular movement in the highway blaming the administration for not issuing Bamjan his citizenship certificate in the name of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh, a group said to be formed for his protection.

The situation grew tense when locals of Dumarwan-7, Piluwa, charged the protesters with sticks for obstructing the highway in the name of fulfilling their demand.

Some protesters have been injured due to police baton charge.

Police impounded half a dozen motorcycles and more than 50 bicycles of the demonstrators.

Hundreds of security personnel were mobilised to dismiss the sit-in of around 300 protestors.

They had also obstructed vehicular movement on Saturday for four hours in the same place.

Later, vehicular movement resumed after agreement was reached on holding discussion between protestors and representatives of Area Administration Office in District Administration office.

Chief District Officer Birendra Kumar Yadav said the protestors did not come for dialogue but to stage another sit-in.

“Their demand was against the law. We cannot give citizenship card ignoring the legal process,” he said.

Bamjan’s birth certificate was issued in the name of Ramlal on April 21,1995 but his followers have been demanding his citizenship be made in the Sangh’s name, for which they have even made a duplicate birth registration certificate in the name of ‘Dharma Sangh’.

Bamjan’s family have lodged complaint expressing dissatisfaction with the Sangh. Police have not taken action against the VDC staff who helped issue fake birth certificate.

a true teacher must respect the laws of the land. he is not above the law of any country. What happened to his world peace when he is causing others to be placed in danger and harmed. Notice it is primarily the poor and the destitute that he got doing his evil for him. Through ugly means, he is trying to illegally obtain papers. Is that not immoral and unjust? PATHALAIYA: Followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who is also known as Little Buddha, brought vehicular movement to a halt at Pasaha of Dumarawana VDC, Bara, along the Pathlaiya-Nijgadh road section, demanding that Bamjan be issued citizenship certificate in the name of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh, a group said to be formed for his protection.

Passengers were stranded for four hours due to the road obstruction. Though Bamjan’s birth date has been registered as Ramlal, Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh has demanded that Bamjan be issued citizenship certificate and passport in the name of ‘Dharma Sangh’ — something which is not possible as per the existing laws.

Vehicular movement resumed after a meeting between Area Administration Officer Binay Srivastav and representatives of Dharma Sangh. Nonetheless, the administration refused to issue citizenship certificate to Bamjan.

Srivastav said he urged the Dharma Sangh to first fulfil legal procedures which are necessary for obtaining citizenship certificate. While Bamjan’s mother Mayadevi claims to have registered her son’s birth date, the Dharma Sangh has got another one issued. “How can a person have two separate birth registrations?” asked Mayadevi showing Bamjan’s birth certificate which she said was the original one. In spite of all these, no action has been taken against the officials of Ratanpuri VDC for issuing a fake birth registration certificate to Bamjan.

This is not the first time that the 22-year-old Buddha Boy has run into controversy. Recently, Bamjan and the Dharma Sangh were in the eye of the storm for ‘taking two women hostage’. Dharma Sangh members have also been involved in brawls, of late with journalists.

strange, isn’t it that people actually believe whatever is written by journalists. Opposition to genuine holy persons is nothing new: it is the same old story which has been enacted with Jesus, Krishna, Rama, to name but a few – and then in more recent times Paramahansa Yogananda, Sathya Sai Baba and Amritanandamayi Ma (Amma) The wordly men will always attack what is spititual. and a holy person is rarely honoured in his own home town or region. It is the way of the world. Let us wait and see how Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sanghaji reinvigorates the Buddhist religion, fallen as it is into atheism: I personally can’t wait! and may His blessings shower on the whole world! anjala devi, UK

Alas! It is totally heartbreaking to watch Mr. Ram Bomjan stubbornly continues to bring himself, and others such dreadful harms with his so-called teachings. The harms which is beyond any kind of physical harms; such long-lasting harms which may last beyond this fragile body. What the media have done by creating false news, gossips, and rumors in the name of “entertainment”; what big companies have done by foraging the forests, or kill its inhabitants in the name of “profits” are undoubtedly BARBARIC and UNWHOLESOME. But they are a speck of dust compared to what Mr. Ram Bomjan, and/or his devotees have done to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha by proclaiming such perverse and harmful Dharma as “True Dharma.” Thus, he is deliberately bringing terrible dangers both to himself AND others. Both his path, and teachings are essentially CONTRADICTORY to Gautama Buddha. Only an eyeless being would say that Mr. Ram Bomjan’s teaching is inline with Gautama Buddha’s, totally mistaken a poisonous snake for a rope! Victimizing each other, with none is benefitted by the relationship, both Mr. Ram Bomjan, and his devotees are in their path to prolong and strengthen the vicious circle of ignorance. How totally heartless when some people, and media find such miserable condition as “entertaining”… Dhyana, hrdaya

It’s so funny that people with such great ideologies slug for such pity cause. I bet proclaiming to be GOD and being a GOD are two different things and MR.Bamjan getting into such controversy for a passport and citizen is a ridicule for his name and fame that he has earned. The fact that I am publishing the deleted articles does not mean that they ALWAYS write the truth, and that they would be always neutral. After some influencing, the journalists themselves changed their own opinions about Bomjon and his victims. After all, if they never give in to influencing, the articles would have never disappeared in the first place! Just three month after this article The Himalayan Times gave in and humbly stopped to publish about Ram Bomjon ever… The “moral transformation” of its journalists can be already felt from the last articles about Bomjon, before the total boycott of this topic.

The below interview with the rapist and torturer of Marici (at Bomjon’s order, though), with Darshan Limbu, is a direct public libel of Bomjon’s European victim, Zsuzsanna. It is interesting that Bomjon had rewarded Limbu for his “torturing services” of the two captive women, as well as his family members, by elevating him to his spokesperson. Bomjon also ordained Limbu a Buddhist monk after he raped and tortured the two women! In later years (2014, 2016) Bomjon repeatedly excommunicates Limbu, just to take him back again and again. His latest kick-out with public condemnation was in the beginning of 2015… Limbu is hiding in the UK.

SINDHULIMADHI: Twenty four days after Ram Bahadur Bamjan nicknamed as the Buddha Boy left Bara’s Ratanpur-based Halkhoriya forest along with his followers, he has been found living at the Hwaredanda of Janakalyan Community Forest of Kamalamai Municipality in Sindhuli.

Darsan Limbu, Bamjan’s disciple, said the Buddha Boy wanted to bring recognition to Nepal through Bodhi religion in the world. “Our guru is writing the Bodhi Religion he earned during his penance,” he said. However, when journalists approached they were not welcomed at Bamjan’s place today.

According to Limbu, Bamjan is scheduled to speak in a public prabachan programme in two months’ time and at that time he would answer to all the questions.

Limbu went to say that Bamjan sat for penance from May 16, 2005 to May 16, 2011 without food. He complained that forest officials, contractors and timber smugglers had spread rumours about Bamjan in Bara. He dismissed the claims that the government had issued any arrest warrant to Bamjan.

In the past, Bamjan was drawn into many controversies for keeping two women captive, abducting his own family members and thrashing up neighbours among others.

Limbu urged journalists to take stock of the Bara jungle, where Bamjan used to live and bring out the reality. He said Bamjan’s family had spread rumours against him after they failed to have the monopoly over the funds collected in Bamjan’s name.

Bamjan has a white mare, one dog and one he-goat. “We do not know where the horse came from. But a foreigner gifted a he-goat to him,” Limbu said.

He said Bamjan is writing Bodhi religion in sambhota script and that would be translated into 17 languages including Nepali and English later.

When asked about holding a Slovak Marichi into captivity, Limbu said that she was a mentally disturbed woman. According to him, Marichi was kept in a room after she expressed her interest to sit for penance. “But, she attacked Bamjan later,” he added.

Chairman Chhatra Ghising of Bodhi Shrawan Sangh, responsible for Bamjan’s protection, urged the mediapersons not to give any negative press coverage.

DIWAKAR BHANDARI

PATHLAIYA: Police are yet to take action against Ram Bahadur Bamjan’s aides who allegedly held two women captive for ‘distracting’ the Buddha Boy during his meditation.

Members of Bodhi Shrawan Sangh recently freed the two women –– one Nepali and the other Slovak national –– after allegedly keeping them in captivity for three months. Although the Slovak woman, identified as ‘Marichi’, told police that she was chained in captivity, police said they lack enough evidence to press charges against the Sangh.

Bodhi Shrawan released Marichi and the Nepali women on Sunday and Tuesday respectively. Following their release, police handed over Marichi to the Immigration Department.

“We have not initiated any action as the women did not formally file a case against Bamjan’s aides,” said Inspector KP Sharma of Area Police Office.

Sharma said police are conducting an investigation into the case. Bara Assistant Chief District Officer Chandra Bahadur Karki said probe into the incident was underway. Karki vowed to punish anyone found guilty of unlawfully detaining the two women.

Marichi –– whose passport bears the name Zsuzsana Takacs –– came to Nepal to see Ram Bahadur Bamjan.

She has been kept in the custody of Immigration Department in Kathmandu as her visa expired on June 3 last year.

DIWAKAR BHANDARI

PATHLAIYA: Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh, formed to protect “Buddha Boy” Ram Bahadur Bamjan, has kept two women captive, one of them a foreigner, since three months.

Marichi (35) from Slovakia and another woman of Sindhupalchowk, Mata, have been confined by the Sangh, which alleges they tried to distract Bamjan’s meditation.

Inspector at Simara Area police Office, KP Sharma said a complaint had been filed about the women’s captivity in Halkhoriya forest, where Bamjan is meditating. Sharma said police interrogated some members of the Sangh in this regard. “They have confessed the women are being held captive for trying to distract Bamjan,” he said adding, “They said they will release them after he completes his religious sermon.” Bamjan’s sermon started last Wednesday.

Marichi had come to Nepal last year to meet Bamjan and has been missing since December 28. After her arrival, Marichi stayed at the local Lama Hotel and had for some time been residing in the Simara-based monastery. She used to meditate in Halkhoriya the whole day and return to the monastery in the evenings.

Krishna Maya Lama, caretaker of the monastery, said, “She has not returned since three months,” adding, “I have heard she is in Halkhoriya.” She said some days after her disappearance, two persons of the Sangh came to the monastery and took her laptop, clothes and other belongings. “Marichi is a kidney patient. She was on medication,” Krishna Maya said, adding “We had taken the medicine, which she had left in the monastery and handed them to persons of the Sangh. We were not allowed to meet her.”

Marichi was seen in Pathlaiya-Nijgadh’s Pasaha on the evening of December 28, the very day of her disappearance. Eyewitnesses at Pasaha said she was sipping tea but was forcefully taken by two persons of the Sangh on a motorcycle towards Halkhoriya. An eyewitness said, “Marichi appeared afraid and one of her hands was fractured.”

Owner of Lama Hotel and persons who knew her have been searching for her. Dawa Lama who claimed Marichi had come to Nepal through his contact, was also unaware of her condition. He said when he asked about Marichi’s condition in Halkhoriya, no one responded. Owner of Lama Hotel, Krishna Lama said, “Marichi stayed in my hotel many times but later stayed in the monastery when she ran short of money.”

Locals of Ratanpur say the Sangh has also kept Mata captive. The Sangh has accused them of practising witchcraft to disrupt Bamjan’s meditation. I Mata was staying in Halkhoriya as a volunteer. A source said Mata and Marichi were kept in a room in Halkhoriya as ordered by Bamjan.

KATHMNDU: A Slovakian national Marichi who was allegedly held captive by Buddha Boy Ram Bahadur Bamjan has been discovered in a severe condition on Monday morning at Simara-based Lama Hotel.

It has been learnt that Marichi, 35, was held captive by Bodi Shrawan Dharma Sangh formed to protect Bamjan, three months back for trying to distract Bamjan’s meditation.

Sangh had left her to Lama hotel, owned by Krishna lama only on Sunday night.

“It seems Marichi has gone through physical and mental suffering during the period of confinement. Bruises in her body indicate she was beaten,” Avenues TV confirmed.

Marichi had come to Nepal last year to meet Bamjan and was missing since December 28.

According to Locals of Ratnapur in Simara, Sangh has also confined another woman from Sindhupalchowk identified as Mata.
